Car Crap
I took my car in for it’s annual safety and emissions inspection, getting up at 7:30 on Saturday so I could have it there first thing when they opened. Getting up early sure makes the day seem long, who knew there were that many hours in a weekend day? Still, I’ll take a shorter day under my covers any time. Anyway, when I went back to pick it up they informed me I was exempt from the emissions testing because I had driven less than five thousand miles in the last year. So I’m thinking great I don’t have to pay for the inspection. How silly I was to think that I as a consumer was getting a break as I was quickly brought back to Pennsylvania reality when the car tech guy told me that there is still a fee, though reduced, for an exemption. Only in this state would you be charged for something you are exempt from. I did save about $20 but still, a fee for something you don’t need? PUH-LEEZE.
Mental Health Day
I have the day off today, no special reason I just decided to tell my job to “shut up”. Seriously I need a break from people. The whole human race has been pissing me off more than usual. So far, it’s been a pretty lazy day as I have been propped up on the couch with a pot of coffee. But I have also taken Thunder for a walk and done a little cleaning. In a bit I’m going to run a few errands and take a hike through the trails of Schenley Park. Tonight I’m going to Head downtown with Jeff and check out Light Up Night to officially ring in the holiday season. There will be cocktails afterwards to warm up as it is snowy and cold today.
Update
Hi. I’m long overdue for an update and even longer overdue for an interesting one. And that’s going to have to wait another day because I just have some randomness to report today.
It’s cold, wet, and a little snowy today in the Burgh. I took a nice long walk to the south side and picked up some beans at Caribou. It actually felt good to take a brisk walk amidst the snow flurries while listening to some tunes.
I’m kind of going through election news withdraw. For the longest time I got sick of having nothing but election news but now the news is kind of dull. It’s all about the economy and it’s the same day after day.
Finnigan has once again started making a habit of visiting me in the middle of the night. If I am laying on my back he just sits on my chest his face about two inches from mine, which of course wakes me up. If I’m on my side or face down he just sits next to me purring like a diesel engine until I wake up. Even though I love my sleep I can’t help but indulge the Finnmeister and scratch his ears for a couple minutes before telling him to go. Then he just bounds away doing whatever he does on his nightly patrol of the house.
My monthly work meeting was turned into a bowling outing this past week. A quick work session while eating pizza and wings gave way to beer and knocking down pins. All my games were between 135 and 160. My bowling name is B-Mizzle and I’m thinking of making this my legal name. I think I can carry it off.
Ok, that’s it for now……Peace out
Go Away
Why can’t Sarah Palin just GO AWAY? For someone who wanted to go back to Alaska and be all mavericky, serve the people of her home state, and keep on eye on Russia while re-applying her lipstick, she is turning up on CNN, Fox, NBC, ABC, etc… Tired of her? You betcha.
America
Obama did it! He inspired, raised expectations, and explained his vision in a way that got people to vote in record numbers. Can the Bush/Cheney years really be coming to an end? As Sarah Palin would say “you betcha.” He has a tough road ahead of him but he clearly will take this country in a new direction and that is exactly what is needed after the last eight years. His speech last night was amazing. I also give credit to McCain who exhibited class in his concession speech while urging his supporters to rally behind the new president for the sake of this great country.
Then
There was
California and Prop 8…
WTF?
Most liberal state….really?
Why are so many people so afraid of calling two gay people in love “married?” Two steps forward but one back.

Still, overall a good night for the country.
